Judge Bryan Wilson is a lifelong rancher, farmer, and public servant who has devoted his life to faith, family, and community. He began ranching on his own at just 12 years old, learning the values of hard work, perseverance, and personal responsibility at an early age.

Burnet County is Home

Judge Wilson has lived and served in Burnet County for over 14 years, while his wife, Holly, has called the area home for nearly 30 years. Many of their nine grandchildren are proudly following in their grandparents’ footsteps, carrying on the family’s agricultural and community traditions.

Faith Guiding Leadership

A devoted Christian since 1979, Judge Wilson’s faith has guided his entire life. He has led and coordinated outreach through multiple churches, sending aid to families living in the garbage dumps of Colonia Alto Vista, Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He taught children’s ministry for many years and continues to teach Bible study on occasion in Burnet, where he and his wife, Holly, remain active church members. His dedication to living out his faith continues to shape his leadership and service.

Conservative Leadership and Republican Values

A Lifelong Conservative.

He served as a founding member of the Texas Right to Life Committee and has been a delegate to the Republican State Convention. His father made local history as the first Republican to run for office in Bastrop County since the Reconstruction era, instilling in Judge Wilson a lasting respect for courage and conviction in public service.

Fighting for Election Integrity and Local Control

During the 1983 and 1985 legislative sessions, he worked to stop abortion and fought against massive tax increases. He co-founded the “Austin Out of Bastrop” campaign, which successfully stopped Austin’s attempted strip annexation. He also co-founded the Bastrop Concerned Taxpayers, which successfully blocked a proposed 25% property tax increase. From the beginning, Judge Wilson has been a champion for taxpayers and a defender of local control.

A lifelong Republican, Judge Wilson has stood for conservative values and election integrity for decades. In 1983, he served as a Reagan poll watcher, where he witnessed and reported election law violations firsthand. An experience that solidified his commitment to fair, transparent elections.

A Lifetime of Public Service andLaw Enforcement Leadership

34 Years of Service: Proven Public Safety and Law Enforcement Leadership.

Over a 34-year career in criminal justice and law enforcement, Judge Wilson has served at every level of public safety. His career began as a probation officer and later became an instructor at the South Plains Law Enforcement Academy, where he trained new officers to serve with integrity and accountability.

He managed large statewide programs for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, working with all 254 Texas counties to implement the Fair Defense Act and improve juvenile justice through the Texas Supreme Court’s Children’s Commission.

As Director of the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority, Judge Wilson oversaw funding and coordination among more than 100 law enforcement agencies across Texas. He also worked closely with other states, federal agencies, and international organizations to combat vehicle theft and organized crime.

Throughout his career, Bryan Wilson has been committed to serving people and keeping his community and state safe.

Strong Leadership for Burnet County

When appointed Burnet County Judge, Bryan Wilson immediately focused on public safety, uniting local law enforcement agencies, and improving communication between emergency service providers.

Uniting Law Enforcement

In his first 100 days, he addressed public safety issues. He brought together every law enforcement agency in the county for the first time in recent memory, including the DPS, Game Wardens, LCRA Rangers, the sheriff, constables, and police chiefs from every city.

Improving Emergency Coordination

He discussed the need for regular county-wide discussions about priorities for a growing county and considered ways to unify the two dispatch systems. He convened fire, hospitals, and ambulance service providers to address major emergency coordination and communication problems.

Supporting Vulnerable Residents

Beyond emergency services, he brought together human service providers for people in crisis to improve mental health treatment, transportation services, housing, and food security for our most vulnerable residents.

Fiscal Responsibility and Transparent Governance

Transparency

Judge Wilson is committed to open government and fiscal responsibility. He led public budget workshops so taxpayers could see exactly how their money was being spent.

Less Taxes, No New Debt

Under his leadership, Burnet County passed a 3% property tax cut and adopted a limited-growth budget, the first in years to operate with no new debt.

The Results of Fiscal Discipline:

Instead of adding debt, Judge Wilson allocated $2 million from the county’s fund balance to improve roads and build a new facility for county offices, investing in infrastructure without raising taxes.

Judge Wilson’s record reflects a lifetime of service, conservative leadership, and commitment to his faith and community. A Vision for Burnet County’s Future

Burnet County has endured some of its toughest challenges in recent memory, including a tornado and a historic, devastating flood that continues to impact families across the community today. Through it all, Judge Wilson led with calm determination, ensuring quick coordination among first responders and recovery teams.

Judge Wilson testified to the Special Joint Session of the Legislature about how Burnet County supported and served each other in their most difficult times and how the Governor and Legislature provided critical support. His leadership during these crises demonstrated not only competence but compassion, putting people before politics.
